Ecosystem Mapping Consultant

About the role

The Ecosystem Mapping Consultant will lead a comprehensive mapping of Lebanon's media and civil society landscape to support data‑driven public accountability initiatives. The role involves desk research, stakeholder interviews, and the production of detailed analytical reports.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desk research and audit public data platforms, including media freedom reports and procurement databases.
• Carry out structured interviews with 12–15 independent media outlets, investigative platforms, and CSOs to assess editorial mandates, technical capacities, legal exposure, and digital security.
• Produce standardized organizational profiles and a prioritized shortlist of candidate partner organisations, including risk assessments.
• Deliver a final ecosystem mapping report, data inventory report, interview notes, and presentation materials for the Beirut Validation Session.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Sociology, Political Science, or Governance.
• Minimum 7 years of experience mapping the Lebanese media landscape, civil‑society networks, or civic‑technology ecosystems.
• Proven track record in qualitative research, stakeholder interviewing, and technical baseline studies.
• Native Arabic speaker with fluent English writing skills.
