Consultant – Updated ATSI Development

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is looking for a senior economist consultant to develop an updated version of the Arab Trade Simulation Interface (ATSI). The consultant will work remotely for a period of four months to enable ESCWA to conduct ad‑hoc assessments of trade reforms and external shocks.

Key responsibilities

• Aggregate the latest GTAP database for the base year 2023 to the list of sectors and countries defined by ESCWA.
• Develop and tailor an updated ATSI version that supports trade‑policy analysis.
• Perform assessments of trade reforms and external shocks using the new ATSI tool.
• Provide analytical support to ESCWA member states for trade negotiations and regional integration strategies.
• Document methodology and deliverables for ESCWA’s knowledge‑sharing platform.

Required profile

• Senior economist with experience in international trade and economic modeling.
• Familiarity with GTAP data and its application to trade simulations.
• Ability to work independently and deliver results remotely.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
