Consultant – Generative AI Guidelines for Mauritania

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) seeks an experienced consultant to develop a comprehensive set of guidelines for the use of Generative AI (GenAI) in Mauritania. Working remotely for a period of 16 weeks, the consultant will produce a full AI code of ethics framework and related advisory materials.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a diagnostic study, gathering stakeholder inputs and summarising key findings.
• Prepare an annotated outline and draft framework for an AI code of ethics.
• Deliver the final AI ethics framework, presentation slides, and an implementation advisory report.
• Write a detailed report in Arabic (minimum 30 pages) with a 2‑4 page executive summary, formatted in MS‑Word.
• Ensure all deliverables are original, properly referenced, and comply with ESCWA plagiarism standards.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in AI ethics, policy development, and generative AI technologies.
• Experience drafting guidelines or regulatory frameworks for government or international organisations.
• Fluent in Arabic (written) and English, with strong academic writing skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage remote communication.
