Civil Engineer Consultant – Infrastructure Projects in Lebanon

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer Consultant to support a six‑month project aimed at improving infrastructure and living conditions in Palestinian Gatherings across Lebanon. The consultant will work from the Beirut duty station and conduct regular site visits in the North, Bekaa, Mount Lebanon and the South.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and design sustainable WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) solutions for community‑level facilities.
• Evaluate and recommend structural upgrades for shelter units and other built assets.
• Support neighbourhood upgrading interventions to create safer, more inclusive environments.
• Provide technical input for hygiene improvement measures and youth livelihood activities.
• Contribute to the development of a national coordination and planning platform for infrastructure response.
• Prepare technical reports, design drawings and cost estimates in line with UNDP standards.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in infrastructure design, WASH projects or shelter construction in humanitarian contexts.
• Familiarity with Lebanese building regulations and the specific constraints affecting Palestinian refugees.
• Ability to travel frequently to project sites and work under tight deadlines.
