Budget/Accounting Assistant

About the role

The EU Delegation to Lebanon in Beirut is seeking a Budget/Accounting Assistant to support the Finance, Contracts & Audit Section. Working under the Head of Section, you will contribute to the financial management of EU cooperation programmes and ensure compliance with EU procurement and accounting rules.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse, verify and process payment requests and financial guarantees.
• Prepare and establish documents related to financial operations (commitments, de‑commitments, payment and recovery orders).
• Follow up on contracts, payments and execution deadlines, and manage bank and legal entity files.
• Ensure data quality in the relevant IT applications and contribute to financial reports and statistics.
• Support procurement processes: prepare and verify calls for tenders/proposals, act as secretary for evaluation committees, and prepare contract awards.
• Encode contract and budget data accurately and identify requests for deviations.

Required profile

• Experience in budget, finance, accounting or contract administration, preferably in an international or public‑sector environment.
• Ability to work under supervision, handle occasional atypical working hours and collaborate within a team of 15.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for verifying financial documents.
