Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs

About the role

The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs leads the full lifecycle management of academic faculty at USEK, ensuring recruitment, appointment, promotion, development and conduct align with the university’s values and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design and oversee frameworks for faculty recruitment, onboarding, contract renewal and appointment.
• Govern promotion, tenure and performance evaluation processes across all academic units.
• Manage academic ethics, conduct policies and due‑process procedures for faculty matters.
• Ensure consistency and fairness of faculty‑related decisions university‑wide.
• Lead the Faculty Development Unit to create career pathways, pedagogical programs and leadership initiatives.
• Coordinate with the AI in Education Unit on faculty upskilling and technology integration.
• Act as the policy authority for faculty affairs and advise Deans on governance issues.
• Support leadership development for chairs, program directors and emerging academic leaders.
• Ensure compliance with MEHE regulations on faculty qualifications and staffing.
• Collaborate with HR on intersections of faculty governance and employment law.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant academic discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in higher education, with at least 5 years in faculty affairs or academic HR governance.
• Proven experience managing faculty promotion and evaluation processes.
• Strong knowledge of faculty governance models, academic employment frameworks and pedagogical development.
• Familiarity with higher‑education ethics, due‑process standards and Lebanese labor law.
• Interest in emerging AI‑enabled faculty development trends.
• Ability to meet all employment requirements, including reference and background checks.
