Senior Software Developer - Cobol

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to design, build, and maintain core banking applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. The role focuses on payment‑system modules such as SWIFT, IPCSM, and RTGS, ensuring reliable integration with external platforms and providing production support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support core banking solutions running on IBM i.
• Perform analysis, design, coding, testing, and production support for payment‑system applications.
• Implement and manage inbound/outbound interfaces, APIs, and middleware for seamless system integration.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot issues and optimise system performance.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including designs, integration flows, and troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in system enhancements, incident resolution, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with AS400 (IBM i) development.
• Fluent in Arabic and English; French or Spanish a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in the EST time zone.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and independent work capabilities.

Required skills

• COBOL/400, CL, CMD, and SQL development on AS400.
• Knowledge of banking payment systems (SWIFT, IPCSM, RTGS).
• Understanding of core banking operations and transaction processing.
• Experience with Java development (optional).
• Familiarity with APIs, middleware, and integration techniques.
