Senior Finance Officer (Budgeting & Reporting)

About the role

The Senior Finance Officer (Budgeting & Reporting) supports the International Rescue Committee’s financial operations by managing day‑to‑day data processing, month‑end close, and comprehensive budgeting and reporting activities. Working closely with Finance Managers, program teams and support functions, the role ensures compliance with IRC policies, donor requirements, and sound financial practices.

Key responsibilities

• Verify payments and ensure adherence to IRC policies.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
• Analyze financial data and generate documents from the Integra system for internal and external use.
• Assist with donor verification visits and audit processes.
• Prepare new budgets and revise grant budgets, ensuring correct cost allocation.
• Collaborate with the Budget & Reporting Manager on monthly program cost allocations and month‑end closure.
• Produce monthly versus actual (BVA) reports and distribute them on schedule.
• Review budget spending, advise staff on over/under‑spending, and update spending plans.
• Support program teams on budget‑related queries and prepare donor financial reports for review.
• Analyze grant spending versus actuals and provide recommendations.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years experience in accounting or finance, preferably within an NGO.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from a recognized institution.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and donor compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively with program, HR, logistics and admin teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical mindset.
