Senior Database Administrator

About the role

The Senior Database Administrator will lead the monitoring, maintenance, and optimisation of our enterprise‑wide database portfolio, covering Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL environments. Reporting to the Head of Software Solutions, you will combine hands‑on technical work with leadership of junior DBAs and strategic architecture decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monitoring, maintenance and performance optimisation of Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.
• Ensure high availability, stability and data integrity, including disaster‑recovery and backup/recovery planning.
• Define and implement database architecture strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning and optimisation to sustain peak efficiency.
• Evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend tools to keep the organisation competitive.
• Mentor and develop junior DBAs, promote best practices and provide technical leadership.
• Collaborate with development teams, external vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Support AI‑driven data and analytics initiatives while adhering to governance, security and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; DBA certification strongly preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in database administration across Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Proven ability to deliver high‑quality work under tight deadlines and pressure.
• Strong communication skills across all organisational levels.
• Creative problem‑solver, adaptable to new technologies and proactive in offering support.
