Senior Civil Estimation Engineer

About the role

Al Majal Al Arabi Group, a Saudi Arabian company active across several business sectors, is looking for a Senior Civil Estimation Engineer with at least 6 years of experience in civil construction cost estimation and tendering. The role is based in Beirut and involves preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates, reviewing tender documents and producing detailed Bills of Quantities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review detailed cost estimates for civil and construction projects from drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare, review and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Develop unit-rate analyses for materials, labor, equipment, productivity and subcontractor costs.
• Review tender documents, drawings and specifications to identify scope, cost implications and risks.
• Prepare technical and commercial tender inputs and obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Calculate direct and indirect costs, including overheads and contingencies.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, commercial and project management teams, propose value engineering solutions and maintain cost databases and material rates.
• Support budget preparation, prepare estimation reports and tender comparisons, and review junior estimators and quantity surveyors.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 6 years of proven experience in civil construction estimation, costing and tender preparation.
• Strong experience with BOQs, quantity takeoffs and cost estimates; tendering and subcontractor quotation analysis.
• Good command of written and spoken English; experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC is an advantage.
• Preferred: previous experience with a main contractor, familiarity with Saudi market pricing, value engineering and mentoring junior estimators.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
• Estimation and quantity takeoff software such as Candy (CCS), CostX, PlanSwift or Bluebeam is an advantage.
• Knowledge of construction materials, labor productivity, equipment rates and market pricing.
