Practical Nurse

About the role

The Practical Nurse provides direct and indirect age‑specific patient care within the American University of Beirut Medical Center. This role supports patient‑centered care by delivering nursing services that meet physical, psychosocial, cultural, and general needs of patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and create a positive experience for patients and families, adhering to service excellence standards.
• Deliver age‑specific nursing care, including treatments, vital sign monitoring, and assistance with procedures such as lumbar puncture and chest tube insertion.
• Facilitate patient admission, transfer, discharge, and participate in pre‑ and postoperative care.
• Prioritize care based on medical and nursing diagnoses, patient history, and expected outcomes.
• Collect and label specimens for testing and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
• Perform cleaning duties, equipment disinfection, and maintain unit orderliness.

Required profile

• Practical Nurse (PN) Diploma or Baccalaureate Technique (BT) Degree in Nursing.
• Valid license to practice as a Practical Nurse.
• 0–2 years of experience in a similar nursing role.
• Proficiency in Arabic and English (EET ≥ 500); French is an asset.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to document accurately in an electronic health record (EHR) system.
