About the role
The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) seeks an expert to peer‑review its upcoming report on safeguarding social spending in the Arab States. The assignment is remote and will support the Arab Public Finance and Budgeting Forum.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake a critical review of the draft report and provide written feedback (1–2 pages) on its key messages and findings.
- Prepare a concise summary highlighting main findings, policy recommendations, and implications for the Forum.
- Conduct supplementary research as needed to strengthen the review.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in economics, finance or a related field (PhD desirable); copy of degree required.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in public finance, macroeconomics, development economics or a related area.
- Publications in peer‑reviewed journals and experience with Arab‑region development contexts are desirable.
Required skills
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, understanding).
- Confident knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
