NPI/R&D Engineer – High-speed Digital & Optical Communication

About the role

The NPI/R&D Engineer – High-speed Digital & Optical Communication will join MultiLane Test Products (MLTP) in Houmal. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on new product introduction and research & development of advanced test solutions for high‑speed digital and optical communications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and validate test methods for high‑speed interfaces.
• Characterize and verify performance of PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes and optical links.
• Develop measurement solutions using MLTP instruments such as BERT, TDR, DSO and AWG.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product requirements into testable designs.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and optimise designs for manufacturability and reliability.
• Document test procedures, analyse data and provide feedback for product improvement.

Required profile

• Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting complex measurement data.
• Background in R&D, concept validation, feasibility studies and prototyping of test solutions.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or Communications Engineering.
• Knowledge of high‑speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes) and optical communication fundamentals.
• Familiarity with signal‑integrity concepts, high‑speed PCB design practices and relevant industry standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate technical findings clearly.
• Experience with data‑analysis tools and scripting (Python, MATLAB) is a plus.
• Prior exposure to instrumentation development, semiconductor testing or AI‑related high‑density systems is advantageous.
