Midwife – Maternity Care Specialist

About the role

Saint George Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Midwife to provide comprehensive maternity care in its state‑of‑the‑art facility overlooking the Ajaltoun valley. The role involves supporting pregnant women through labor, delivery, and postnatal care while collaborating with obstetricians and pediatricians.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and admit pregnant women, monitor labor progress and fetal well‑being, and implement obstetrician orders.
• Prepare patients for procedures such as epidural anesthesia, assist during delivery, and ensure immediate newborn care including resuscitation and Apgar scoring.
• Conduct post‑natal monitoring for mother and newborn, support breastfeeding, and provide patient education.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, manage medical supplies, and uphold infection‑control and patient‑safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery, Nursing or related field from an accredited university.
• Valid MOPH license to practice as a Midwife in Lebanon.
• Minimum 1 year experience in maternity, labor and delivery or related clinical setting.
• Good command of English and Arabic (French is an asset).

Required skills

• Clinical assessment of maternal and newborn health.
• Monitoring labor progress and interpreting fetal heart rate.
• Administering medications and assisting in deliveries.
• Newborn resuscitation and Apgar scoring.
