Medical Laboratory Technologist

About the role

The American University of Beirut Medical Center seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform routine and moderately complex laboratory procedures while adhering to accreditation standards, safety regulations, and equipment maintenance. The role supports the mission and vision of the institution and its Department of Pathology.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients and families, providing a professional and caring experience in line with service excellence standards.
• Perform routine to moderately complex pathology and laboratory procedures, including specimen handling, analysis, interpretation, and reporting according to established policies.
• Identify and troubleshoot failures in pre‑analytical, analytical, and post‑analytical test systems, reporting issues to appropriate personnel.
• Execute quality control procedures, report any failures, and implement corrective actions as directed.
• Maintain equipment, conduct periodic inventory of reagents and supplies, and ensure timely replacement of expired items.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
• 0–2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
• Fluency in Arabic and English (IELTS ≥ 500); French is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to interact with a Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
