Health, Safety, Environment Officer – Building Renovation (Beirut)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSE) Officer to lead HSE activities on a building renovation project in Beirut. The role involves ensuring occupational health and safety, environmental protection, site security and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the project HSE plan, procedures, policies and emergency‑response arrangements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks, toolbox talks and briefings, and enforce corrective actions.
• Supervise safety controls for vertical construction activities, including work at height, scaffolding, demolition, lifting operations and confined‑space work.
• Monitor environmental controls such as dust, noise, waste handling and hazardous material management.
• Manage site security, access control and emergency preparedness, including drills and response equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5‑10 years of HSE experience on vertical construction or building renovation projects.
• Recognised HSE certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001) and valid work‑at‑height/fall‑protection training.
• Proficiency in English; Arabic preferred, French an advantage.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and familiarity with digital HSE reporting systems.
