Health, Safety & Environment Officer – Building Renovation (Beirut)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSE) Officer to lead HSE activities on a building renovation project in Beirut. The role involves ensuring occupational health and safety, environmental protection, site security and full regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the project HSE plan, conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and enforce control measures for work at height, scaffolding, demolition, lifting operations and confined‑space activities.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, investigate incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Oversee environmental controls for dust, noise, waste and hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with Lebanese regulations.
• Manage site security, access control and emergency preparedness, including drills and response procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of HSE experience on vertical construction or building renovation projects.
• Proven ability to read and review method statements, risk assessments, lifting plans and construction drawings.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem‑solving skills; fluent English (Arabic preferred, French a plus).

Required skills

• NEBOSH, IOSH or OSHA certification (or equivalent ISO 45001 qualification).
• Work‑at‑height and fall‑protection training.
• Scaffolding inspection, lifting operations and confined‑space certifications.
• Permit‑to‑work and environmental management knowledge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and digital HSE reporting systems.
