General Cashier

About the role

The General Cashier is responsible for managing all cash‑related activities within the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of funds. This position works closely with the Financial Controller to safeguard cash assets and support daily financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain Financial Controller approval for all petty‑cash disbursements before payment preparation.
• Maintain accountability for all funds and house banks stored in the general cashier’s safe.
• Verify remittance envelopes against the Cash Remittance Envelope Register and promptly report discrepancies.
• Open cash collection envelopes, count funds, and reconcile them with cashier’s remittance records in the presence of an assigned witness.
• Prepare daily bank deposit slips and ensure all receipts are deposited intact each day.
• Generate the General Cashier’s daily report.
• Maintain an adequate supply of change for cashiers, especially on non‑banking days.
• Collect and remit foreign currencies received by branch cashiers, reconciling them with the foreign‑exchange report.
• Count and balance house bank balances on a daily basis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of cashiering experience, preferably in the restaurant or hotel industry.
• Experience handling petty cash, bank deposits, foreign currencies, and cash reconciliation is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good numerical and analytical abilities.
