Full-Time Faculty Position in Artificial Intelligence (Open Rank)

About the role

The Department of Liberal Studies at the Lebanese American University seeks an innovative educator to join its renewed Liberal Arts and Sciences curriculum as a full‑time faculty member in Artificial Intelligence. The appointment may be at the Lecturer, Assistant/Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor of Practice level, depending on experience, and will involve teaching on both the Beirut and Byblos campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in AI, digital literacy, and related subjects.
• Supervise senior projects, capstones, and student research.
• Coordinate practicum experiences and support professional development of students.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
• Participate in service activities, committees, and governance within the department and university.
• Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement.
• Develop partnerships with schools and professional organizations, and seek external funding.
• Engage in scholarly research, publications, and other academic activities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience teaching or professional practice related to AI or digital literacy.
• Experience teaching non‑specialist, interdisciplinary undergraduate audiences.
• Strong command of English and effective collaboration, organizational, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with data visualization or analytics tools such as RapidMiner, Tableau, or PowerBI.
• Solid foundation in AI/ML and data engineering.
• Familiarity with handling unstructured data (text, image, audio, video).
