Finance Compliance Specialist

About the role

The Finance Corporate Affairs Department is seeking a Finance Compliance Specialist to support the university’s accounting operations. Based primarily on the Beirut campus, the role focuses on U.S. tax compliance coordination and oversight of the 403(b) Retirement Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review tax‑related reconciliations, schedules and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain tax compliance records, monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on university operations.
• Assist the Associate Comptroller – Taxation in executing U.S. tax compliance activities and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with internal departments, external tax advisors and regulatory authorities on tax matters.
• Administer the university’s 403(b) Retirement Plan, including transaction review, reconciliations and plan documentation.
• Monitor plan compliance, internal controls and collaborate with HR, payroll, third‑party administrators and auditors.
• Support the annual audit of the 403(b) plan by preparing schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
• Identify and implement process improvements for tax compliance and plan governance.
• Provide backup support to office staff to ensure continuity of operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance or related financial operations.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. tax compliance processes and regulatory reporting.
• Experience with 403(b) Retirement Plan administration is preferred.
