Environmentalist – Environmental Management & Impact Assessment

About the role

The Environmentalist will join Dar's Environmental Team to support a wide range of engineering and advisory projects. You will help develop environmentally friendly designs, produce management plans, and ensure compliance with local and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and mitigation measures.
• Prepare and contribute to studies such as Environmental Planning, Permit Applications, Scoping Studies, SEAs/SESAs, EIAs/ESIAs, EMPs/ESMPs, CEMPs/CESMPs, Stakeholder Engagement Plans, Resettlement Policy Frameworks and Action Plans.
• Develop and support proposals with an environmental scope and coordinate with other departments.
• Compile literature on specific environmental topics and conduct stakeholder and public consultation sessions.
• Perform site visits domestically and internationally, supervise sub‑consultants, and liaise with authorities, stakeholders, and clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience preparing environmental studies and management plans.
• Demonstrated knowledge of IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standards (advantage).
• Willingness to work away from the base office.
• Fluent in English and Arabic; French proficiency is a plus.
