Editorial Assistant – Bilingual Cross‑Checking & Comparison

About the role

The incumbent will support the timely delivery of high‑quality Arabic and English documents for ESCWA, ensuring linguistic precision, stylistic consistency, and alignment with United Nations standards.

Key responsibilities

• Offer support in editorial, translation, proofreading and copy preparation across a range of documents.
• Conduct meticulous version comparisons between source and target texts to refine outputs and ensure alignment.
• Ensure continuity of style, strict accuracy of content, and conformity with United Nations grammar, style, and typography.
• Oversee AI translation tools and computer‑assisted translation platforms, post‑editing outputs to meet institutional quality standards.
• Utilize online research tools and reference databases to verify technical terminology and maintain consistency throughout the text.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; a first‑level university degree in language, terminology, information management or language technology is desirable.
• Minimum eight years of experience in language‑related functions and computer‑assisted translation, with strong background in syntax, morphology and programming.
• Fluency in English and Arabic (speaking, reading, writing, understanding); knowledge of French is desirable.
