Director of Nursing

About the role

The Director of Nursing leads all nursing operations across the hospital, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality patient care, compliance with regulatory standards, and continuous staff development. This senior position shapes nursing policies, drives accreditation initiatives, and aligns nursing services with the hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and update nursing policies, procedures, and standards to meet quality, safety, and accreditation requirements.
• Lead strategic planning and operational management of the nursing department, aligning goals with hospital‑wide priorities.
• Supervise and evaluate Head Nurses, Nursing Coordinators, Clinical Auditors, L&D Coordinators, and Clinical Nurse Specialists.
• Act as liaison between nursing staff and executive management, advocating for resources, training, and process improvements.
• Oversee monitoring of clinical quality indicators, nursing KPIs, and incident reporting systems to drive continuous improvement.
• Chair or participate in Quality, Infection Control, and Risk Management committees, communicating decisions to nursing teams.
• Collaborate with HR on workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and professional development initiatives.
• Review and approve departmental schedules, vacations, training requests, budgets, and resource allocation in coordination with Finance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in nursing leadership and management within a hospital setting.
• Proven ability to develop and enforce nursing policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
• Strong track record of supervising multidisciplinary nursing teams and driving performance improvement.
• Deep understanding of clinical quality, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to liaise with executive leadership and staff.
• Experience collaborating with HR and Finance on staffing, budgeting, and resource planning.
