Deputy Finance Manager

About the role

The Deputy Finance Manager supports the senior finance team in ensuring accurate accounting transactions, budget management, and compliance with internal and external policies. This role plays a pivotal part in financial reporting, audit preparation, and the overall strategic finance function of the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day accounting operations and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Review procurement transactions for proper documentation, accuracy, and payment controls.
• Suggest and develop formats for financial reporting to aid decision‑making.
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
• Oversee training and provide technical support to finance staff.
• Supervise staff, monitor daily tasks, and ensure timely completion.
• Prepare budget proposals and coordinate with program, logistics, HR, and M/E teams.
• Analyze monthly pipelines, verify balances and allocations against accounting records.
• Review program‑team expense estimates and provide input.
• Recommend budget realignments and communicate amendments to management.
• Ensure timely submission of monthly pipeline reports to HQ.
• Follow up on TM1 system entries and maintain up‑to‑date variance analysis.
• Attend internal coordination meetings related to country activities and projects.
• Manage preparation of internal and external financial reports in line with contractual requirements.
• Prepare audit schedules, facilitate audits, and implement audit recommendations.
• Respond to additional finance‑related tasks from country office or HQ.
• Assist in fiscal year‑end closures, preparing documents, reports, and vouchers.
