Defense Stringer – Middle East & North Africa

About the role

Tactical Report publishes investigative reports and news on the defence and armaments sector across the Middle East and North Africa. We are seeking an experienced defence stringer who can uncover exclusive stories, verify information, and help our analysts anticipate future developments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a reliable network of sources close to decision‑makers in the defence sector.
• Break exclusive stories for our advisory publications while ensuring strict accuracy and objectivity.
• Verify all information against required standards before passing it to editors.
• Collaborate with editors and researchers to select topics, sources, and treatment approaches.

Required profile

• Minimum three years covering defence and armaments in the MENA region.
• Ability to distinguish routine developments from significant events.
• Experience covering at least one defence domain (land, sea, air) or one MENA country.
• Proven capability to engage lawfully with decision‑making circles.
• Strong grounding in geopolitical affairs and understanding of economic/fiscal policy.
• Fluency in Arabic or English.
