Data Analyst Contractor – Financing for Development

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia seeks an Individual Contractor to provide data analysis and econometric support for its Financing for Development team. The role focuses on assessing phantom foreign direct investment (FDI) risks and producing policy‑relevant analytical outputs.

Key responsibilities

• Extract, compile and manage bilateral and sectoral FDI datasets for pilot countries.
• Review, validate, and harmonise data, applying statistical techniques to resolve quality issues.
• Support the implementation of econometric models to detect anomalous investment patterns and high‑risk jurisdictions.
• Develop country and sector risk profiles based on investment trends and risk indicators.
• Maintain and document structured datasets and load them into a database system.
• Create statistical tables, visualisations, dashboards and other analytical products.
• Contribute to the design of interactive dashboards illustrating key FDI and illicit financial flow indicators.

Required profile

• Strong analytical background with experience in data management and statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with econometric modelling and risk‑assessment methodologies.
• Ability to produce clear, policy‑oriented analytical outputs.
