Country Director – Lebanon

About the role

The Country Director leads Relief International’s mission in Lebanon, overseeing a budget of approximately $5 million and a team of senior managers and program staff. Reporting to the Desk Director, the role is responsible for strategic direction, fundraising, program quality, and representation with donors, government authorities, UN agencies and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a strategic vision for the Lebanon mission, aligning with global priorities.
• Mobilize resources and lead fundraising efforts with existing and new donors.
• Scale up health, nutrition, education and livelihoods programmes while ensuring high‑quality implementation.
• Manage a budget of ~US$5 million, overseeing financial planning, reporting and compliance.
• Represent the organization at high‑level meetings, inter‑agency coordination groups and media engagements.
• Ensure risk, access and security management across all operations.
• Provide leadership to the Lebanon senior management team and program staff.
• Maintain strong relationships with government authorities, UN agencies, partners and other external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to handle both strategic and operational issues simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with donors, governments and multilateral agencies.
• Experience managing multi‑million‑dollar budgets and large multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a fluid, complex environment.
