Cost Control Engineer

About the role

The Cost Control Engineer will support project operations by monitoring and controlling project expenditures, commitments, forecasts, and overall financial performance. Reporting to the Chief Projects Officer, the role works closely with senior management and various functional departments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the project cost coding structure for BOQ items, activities, materials, services, subcontractors, equipment, labour, and overheads.
• Review payment requests, purchase orders, quotations, invoices and related documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Control subcontractor and supplier payments, including IPC certification, retention, advance payment recovery, back‑charges, and on‑site material tracking.
• Establish and monitor project budgets, cost breakdowns, commitments, actual costs, contingencies and risk allowances.
• Track cost performance indicators such as Planned Value, Earned Value, Actual Cost, CPI, and cost variance.
• Prepare cost‑to‑complete assessments, forecast cost at completion, variance analysis, margin forecasts and cash‑flow updates.
• Identify and escalate potential cost overruns, unsupported expenditures and other financial risks.
• Support final account preparation and project close‑out cost reconciliation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project cost control, cost reporting or commercial management within construction or engineering projects.
• Ability to maintain an independent and objective approach when reviewing project costs and commitments.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to produce accurate financial reports.
