Consultant on Gender Equality and Women Economic Empowerment

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking a short‑term consultant to support its gender equality and women’s economic empowerment work in the Arab region. The consultant will work on knowledge‑product development, data collection and analysis, and capacity‑building activities over a four‑month hybrid assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and pilot data‑collection tools such as questionnaires and interview guides.
• Collect, clean, and tabulate quantitative and qualitative data.
• Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings into briefing notes.
• Draft concept notes, study sections, and write‑ups on specific gender‑related issues.
• Prepare presentations and support the organization of workshops and training sessions.
• Contribute to policy analysis and recommendations for member states.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in gender studies, economics, public policy, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in gender equality research and women’s economic empowerment, preferably in the Arab context.
• Proven ability to produce high‑quality analytical reports and knowledge products.
• Excellent written communication skills in English.
• Experience working in multicultural or UN‑type environments.
