About the role
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer Consultant Specialist to support its Local Development for Stabilization Project in Lebanon. The consultant will work on‑site at Social Development Centers in West Beqaa and South Lebanon, providing technical expertise for a three‑month assignment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct technical assessments of existing civil infrastructure within host‑community sites.
- Provide recommendations for maintenance, rehabilitation, and expansion of public service facilities.
- Support the design and implementation of climate‑resilient construction solutions.
- Collaborate with local authorities, NGOs, and community representatives to ensure conflict‑sensitive interventions.
- Prepare concise reports and technical documentation for UNDP project managers.
Required profile
- University degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in infrastructure projects, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to work on‑site in challenging environments and to engage with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
Required skills
- Technical expertise in structural assessment, construction materials, and site supervision.
- Familiarity with standards for safe and sustainable infrastructure in low‑resource settings.
