Chief Accountant – Lebanon

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the accounting function for Lebanon, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial records across the Levant region. Reporting to senior finance leadership, the role combines hands‑on bookkeeping with strategic oversight of AR, AP, treasury and cost‑control activities.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes, review reconciliations and approve material journal entries.
• Maintain the chart of accounts, accounting policies, approval matrix and controls in line with Group policy and IFRS.
• Supervise and coach staff across GL, AR, AP, treasury and cost‑control functions.
• Review AR ageing, collections, credit notes, retentions and expected credit loss considerations.
• Review AP ageing, supplier reconciliations, accruals, payment proposals and vendor master data.
• Oversee bank, cash, inter‑company, tax, payroll and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Coordinate statutory accounting, VAT/WHT, e‑invoicing and external audit support with local advisers.
• Manage inter‑company accounting, foreign‑currency revaluation and elimination‑ready balances.
• Monitor data quality and transaction processing in Odoo/ERP, including master data, dimensions and cost centres.
• Prepare monthly management reporting packs, trial balances, cash‑flow statements and variance analyses.

Required profile

• Proven senior accounting experience, preferably in a multi‑country environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local statutory requirements for Lebanon.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop accounting teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on data integrity.
• Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus.
