About the role

This position reports to the Finance Manager and leads the accounting function within the finance department. The Chief Accountant plans, directs and ensures accurate financial reporting, tax compliance and payroll processing.

Key responsibilities

Prepare, review and submit monthly and yearly NSSF, VAT, income tax and other statutory tax declarations.
Control distribution department aging, daily orders and maintain the company’s asset register.
Process monthly payroll and govern the end‑of‑month closing process.
Check supplier payments, manage vendor aging and prepare monthly closing reports (P&L & Balance Sheet).
Prepare cash‑flow reports, yearly budgets and monthly comparative analyses.
Reconcile accruals, pre‑payments and ensure accuracy of revenue assurance files.
Oversee monthly stock counts, stock reconciliations and variance analysis.
Review daily accounting entries for compliance with accounting principles and fiscal requirements.
Coordinate with auditors as needed and supervise the accounting department to meet reporting deadlines.
