Agronomist Field Officer (National)

About the role

The Agronomist Field Officer will support the implementation of agricultural interventions in the Akkar area, working closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, local cooperatives and farmer groups. The role combines farmer outreach, technical kit assessment, training delivery and on‑site monitoring to ensure sustainable agricultural practices are adopted.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, register and assess the adequacy of farmer kits (drip irrigation, seeds, fertilizer, beekeeping, greenhouse materials, etc.) ensuring they match agro‑ecological conditions.
• Introduce the project to local communities and authorities, disseminate project objectives, eligibility criteria and feedback channels.
• Plan and deliver 12 cycles of on‑site technical training (approximately 288 hours) for around 250 farmers, adapting content to local value chains.
• Monitor the use of distributed kits, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide corrective recommendations.
• Provide agronomic input for post‑harvest equipment, irrigation canal rehabilitation and TVET curriculum development.
• Maintain regular coordination with the MoA Akkar Extension Office, cooperatives and project managers, reporting technical progress, risks and needs.

Required profile

• Experience in farmer identification, registration and agronomic kit assessment.
• Proven ability to design and deliver technical training to farming communities.
• Capacity to work under the guidance of an Agriculture Advisor and collaborate with extension services and cooperatives.

Required skills
