Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Azure Focus

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure services to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and high‑performance data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimise data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Develop robust ETL/ELT frameworks, ensuring automation, accuracy and efficiency.
• Apply data quality standards and governance with Azure Monitor and Microsoft Purview.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver Power BI visualisations and reports.
• Monitor, profile and tune performance of Azure‑based data solutions.
• Manage cloud data platforms such as Azure Databricks, Stream Analytics and Cosmos DB.
• Implement security best practices using Azure Active Directory, encryption and role‑based access.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote Azure best practices.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of architectures and workflows.
• Stay current with Azure advancements and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience, primarily with Microsoft Azure data services.
• Strong programming skills in Python, T‑SQL and/or Scala.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks and Azure SQL Database.
• Advanced SQL knowledge, data modelling expertise and familiarity with Azure Cosmos DB.
• Experience with data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview.
• Proficiency in Power BI for data visualisation.
