Consultant – Development of Personal Data Protection Law in Yemen

About the role

ESCWA seeks an experienced legal consultant to produce a comprehensive Arabic report on the development of personal data protection law in Yemen. The consultant will work independently to deliver a high‑quality, well‑referenced study that meets ESCWA’s formatting and confidentiality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse the evolution of Yemen’s personal data protection legislation.
• Prepare a report of at least 30 pages in Arabic, including a 2‑4 page executive summary.
• Format the document in MS‑Word with an automatically updated table of contents, lists of tables and figures, and proper citations.
• Provide photocopies or scans of the first page of all source materials used.
• Ensure the final draft contains less than 20% quoted text and passes plagiarism checks.
• Submit the complete deliverables electronically to the designated focal point.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in data‑protection or privacy law, preferably with experience in the Middle‑East region.
• Proven ability to produce detailed legal research reports in Arabic.
• Familiarity with UN/ESCWA reporting standards and confidentiality requirements.

Required skills

• MS Word document preparation and advanced formatting.
• Use of plagiarism detection tools.
• Citation and reference management.
