About the role
The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) seeks an experienced consultant to design a national framework for artificial intelligence (AI) ethics in Mauritania. The assignment is remote and will run for approximately 16 weeks.
Key responsibilities
- Produce a diagnostic report summarising key findings and stakeholder inputs.
- Develop an annotated outline and draft of the AI code of ethics.
- Deliver the final AI ethics framework, presentation slides, and an implementation advisory report.
- Prepare all documents in Arabic, in MS‑Word format, with a minimum of 30 pages and a 2‑4 page executive summary.
- Ensure all outputs include proper tables of contents, references, and scanned copies of source material.
- Adhere to ESCWA’s plagiarism and confidentiality policies.
Required profile
- Proven experience in AI ethics, policy development, or related consultancy work.
- Familiarity with United Nations or international development processes.
- Ability to produce high‑quality technical reports in Arabic.
- Strong attention to detail and compliance with citation standards.
Required skills
- Proficiency with MS Word (docx) for document preparation.
