Biomedical Engineer Consultant (Remote – Lebanon)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a qualified Biomedical Engineer Consultant to provide technical expertise for the planning, procurement, installation, commissioning, and lifecycle management of medical equipment in primary health care centres, hospitals, and other health facilities across Lebanon. The role is home‑based and will be engaged on an as‑needed basis under a Long‑Term Agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct equipment and infrastructure assessments for health facilities.
• Support selection of appropriate medical technologies and develop technical specifications and tender documents.
• Provide technical advice during procurement, including bid evaluation and contract implementation.
• Assess site readiness, recommend infrastructure modifications, and oversee installation and commissioning activities.
• Verify compliance with relevant standards and support capacity‑building for health‑care personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Medical Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications or specialized training in medical equipment is an asset.
• Proven experience in medical equipment procurement, installation, and maintenance planning.
• Ability to work independently and provide expert technical guidance to UNICEF and partner teams.
