Shop Drawing Engineer (Furniture, Millwork)

About the role

builtroom is a talent discovery and hiring platform for the built environment. It is recruiting a full-time, on-site Shop Drawing Engineer for furniture and millwork, based in Beirut. The engineer prepares detailed and accurate shop drawings, translating design concepts into manufacturable details through close coordination with design teams, project managers and production staff.

Key responsibilities

• Review architectural and interior design drawings, verify dimensions and materials, and ensure shop drawings comply with project specifications, standards and local regulations.
• Revise drawings based on feedback and resolve technical issues with joinery and fabrication methods.
• Maintain clear documentation for approval and installation.
• Collaborate regularly with workshop teams and suppliers to ensure feasibility, quality and timely delivery of millwork and furniture components.

Required profile

• Relevant technical degree or diploma in architecture, interior design, engineering or a related field.
• Prior experience in furniture or millwork shop drawings.
• Good knowledge of industry standards, codes and best practices for millwork, furniture manufacturing and on-site installation.
• Effective communication with designers, project managers, workshop teams and suppliers.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and ability to manage multiple drawings and revisions within deadlines.
• Proficiency in English for technical documentation; knowledge of Arabic is beneficial.

Required skills

• CAD and millwork/furniture design software for producing precise, build-ready shop drawings.
• Solid understanding of joinery, woodworking, millwork fabrication processes, materials and hardware.
• Ability to read architectural, interior design and structural drawings and turn them into fabrication and installation documents.
