Senior Software Engineer

About the role

SORMENA International, an enterprise architecture and digital transformation consultancy that also builds its own software products, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Beirut on a hybrid basis. The engineer works directly with the Director of Product Engineering across two products: Orelea, a B2B operating system for luxury travel, and BunIEA, an enterprise architecture portal built on MEGA HOPEX.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship features across both products, end to end.
• Design and harden LLM features: retrieval with access control, multi-provider model routing, AI-assisted scoring and agentic workflows.
• Write technical documents required by enterprise clients: architecture and deployment docs, threat models, LLM design notes and responses to security reviews.
• Work with client IT and security teams through governance processes such as design authority reviews and privileged access onboarding.
• Own every task from start to finish: the feature, the document, the client thread or the production issue.

Required profile

• A track record of full ownership, taking unclear briefs to completion.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering with strong TypeScript.
• Production experience with Next.js and React, and Node.js on the backend (NestJS is a plus).
• Solid relational database skills; Postgres preferred.
• At least one LLM-powered feature shipped to production, beyond a prototype.
• Clear technical writing and comfort working with enterprise or government clients.

Nice to have

• Arabic and experience building right-to-left interfaces.
• GraphQL, OpenID Connect/OAuth and role-based or row-level access control.
• RAG and vector search (pgvector), Vertex AI, OpenAI or Anthropic APIs.
• Background in enterprise architecture or EA tools such as HOPEX.
• Cloud deployment experience (GCP, Heroku) and IIS or other reverse proxies.
