Senior Registered Nurse and Lactation Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Registered Nurse who will also serve as a Lactation Specialist. The role provides comprehensive nursing care across the obstetrics, maternity and newborn continuum while delivering evidence‑based lactation support to breastfeeding mothers and infants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform age‑specific patient assessments, develop care plans, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes in accordance with Patient Centered Care principles.
• Provide lactation assessments, education, counseling and hands‑on support for breastfeeding initiation, positioning, latch, milk expression and use of breast pumps.
• Identify and manage common lactation‑related conditions such as engorgement, sore nipples, mastitis and low milk supply, and coordinate referrals when needed.
• Administer medications, monitor effects and document all care activities in the AUBHealth electronic health record.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in performance improvement initiatives and ensure infection‑control and safety standards are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing; licensed by the Ministry of Public Health and registered with the Order of Nurses in Lebanon.
• 5–7 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in obstetrics, gynecology, maternity or newborn care.
• Fluent in English and Arabic (IELTS ≥ 500); French is an asset.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practices and lactation care from routine to high‑risk situations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
