National Consultant – Psychiatry Doctors for Sentence Reduction Commission

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking two national consultants who are medical doctors specialized in psychiatry. The consultants will support Lebanon's Commission of Reduction of Sentences by providing psychiatric assessments of inmates and advising on sentence‑reduction decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations of prisoners as requested by the Commission.
• Attend meetings at the Commission’s headquarters and present assessment findings.
• Prepare concise reports on mental‑health status and treatment recommendations.
• Collaborate with prison staff and other health professionals to ensure appropriate follow‑up.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards throughout the assignment.

Required profile

• Medical degree with a specialization in psychiatry.
• Valid Lebanese medical license.
• Experience in forensic or correctional psychiatry is preferred.
• Ability to work independently on a part‑time, home‑based schedule.
• Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Required skills

• Clinical psychiatric assessment.
• Report writing and documentation.
• Understanding of prison health and security protocols.
