Legal Adviser – International Humanitarian Law (Yemen)

About the role

The IHL Centre is seeking a dedicated Legal Adviser to support its Middle East Unit with a focus on Yemen. The successful candidate will provide expert legal analysis, advice and training on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) to enhance protection for people affected by conflict.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver rapid, in‑depth legal advice on IHL issues arising in Yemen and the wider Middle East.
• Conduct research and produce analytical reports to inform humanitarian actors and policy makers.
• Design and facilitate training sessions and workshops on the laws of war.
• Contribute to advocacy initiatives and the development of guidance materials.
• Collaborate with regional teams in Beirut, Geneva, Jerusalem and other locations.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to humanitarian principles and protection of civilians.
• Demonstrated expertise in International Humanitarian Law.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, inclusive environment.
• Willingness to adhere to safeguarding policies and undergo background checks.
