Intern – Peacebuilding and Prevention

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Governance and Conflict Prevention Cluster. Working under the Peacebuilding and Prevention Team, you will contribute to research and analysis that informs policy and programming for vulnerable Arab countries.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in researching drivers of vulnerability, including socioeconomic, institutional, environmental and governance factors.
• Collect and compile data on conflict dynamics, resilience and transboundary risks from multiple sources.
• Support the preparation of analytical papers, policy briefs and visualizations using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Contribute to assessments of long‑term conflict impacts on development outcomes and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Required profile

• First‑level university degree in social sciences or related field; enrollment in a graduate program or recent graduate status is acceptable.
• Fluency in English and Arabic (speaking, reading, writing, understanding).
• Strong interest in UN work, peacebuilding, conflict prevention and sustainable development.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
