District Guidance Counselor

About the role

The Lebanon District #9 seeks a dedicated Guidance Counselor to support students from kindergarten through post‑secondary education. The role focuses on helping students overcome personal and academic challenges, develop college and career plans, and prepare for successful adult life.

Key responsibilities

• Register new students, orient them to school procedures, and assist with course and subject selection.
• Provide occupational information, coordinate college visits, job‑shadowing, and career‑exploration activities.
• Maintain confidential student records and supply information to colleges and employers in accordance with Board of Education policies.
• Offer individual counseling for personal, family, health, and emotional issues.
• Support students at risk of dropping out and facilitate their reintegration after disciplinary actions.
• Assist with state and local testing programs, schedule adjustments, and summer responsibilities as required.
• Deliver classroom lessons that develop social‑emotional skills, conflict‑resolution abilities, and academic success strategies.

Required profile

• Valid Type 73 certification.
• Successful teaching experience (preferred).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with students, parents, and school administration.
• Willingness to work a minimum of 18 summer hours, with additional hours as needed.
