About the role

The Deputy Chief Field Health Programme supports the Chief in leading UNRWA's health initiatives across the field, ensuring high‑quality medical services for Palestine refugees. This senior position combines strategic planning, technical oversight, and operational management to improve health outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and assist the Chief Field Health Programme in planning, development, management and supervision of all health programme activities.
• Coordinate, integrate and oversee technical functions of Division Heads and manage day‑to‑day administration of the Field Health Programme.
• Provide technical guidance, supervise implementation of Technical Instructions and finalize health programme reports.
• Implement, supervise and evaluate Medical Care Services, including clinic operations, medical and pharmacological supply, oral health, laboratory, hospital and referral services, as well as physical rehabilitation and radiology.
• Plan and direct in‑service training for health staff within the Medical Care Services Division.
• Ensure proper management of medical supplies and equipment at health centres.
• Manage budget preparation for the Field Health Programme.
• Coordinate staffing matters with HR, including finalisation of staff medical boards.
• Direct implementation and management of assigned health projects, liaising with the Programme Support Office and Project Team.
• Identify and recommend improvements for health projects through collaboration with the Projects Office.
