Consultant for Economic Empowerment Project – Jordan

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) seeks an individual contractor to support the implementation of its project “From Dependence to Dignity: Economic Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities and Youth in Jordan.” The role focuses on translating policy recommendations into concrete actions that improve employment outcomes for youth and persons with disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and rollout of the national strategy for economic empowerment of persons with disabilities and youth.
• Coordinate with Jordanian ministries, NGOs, and private‑sector partners to identify and address barriers to inclusive employment.
• Support the Josour Initiative by helping to design skill‑building activities, job‑matching processes, and monitoring tools.
• Collect, analyse, and report on project data to track progress against targets.
• Prepare policy briefs, technical notes, and communication materials for ESCWA and government audiences.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background (e.g., economics, social policy, disability studies, or related fields).
• Demonstrated experience in disability inclusion, youth empowerment, or labour‑market policy.
• Strong analytical and writing skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and remotely for a six‑month period.
• Familiarity with the Jordanian context is an advantage.
