About the role
The European Union Delegation in Beirut is seeking a Budget/Accounting Assistant (Local Agent Group II) to support its Finance, Contracts & Audit Section. The role is a fixed‑term position of two years, with possible renewal, and involves providing technical and administrative support for financial and legal aspects of EU cooperation programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse, verify and process payment requests and financial guarantees.
- Prepare and manage documents related to financial operations such as commitments, de‑commitments, payment and recovery orders.
- Monitor contracts, payments and execution deadlines, ensuring compliance with EU procedures and regulations.
- Support tendering procedures, prepare calls for tenders/proposals, and act as secretary for evaluation committees.
- Encode data accurately in relevant IT applications and contribute to financial reports, forecasts and annual statistics.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in public‑sector budgeting, accounting or contract management.
- Familiarity with EU financial rules, procurement procedures and audit processes.
- Ability to work under the supervision of the Head of Section and adapt to changing delegation needs.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
