Activities Therapist

About the role

The Activities Therapist works within a residential care home to plan, coordinate and deliver a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities for service users. Reporting to the Home Manager, the role supports the wellbeing and social engagement of residents through both internal programmes and external outings.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Activity Organiser to schedule internal and external entertainment, ensuring all documentation and risk assessments are completed.
• Manage the monthly activity budget, purchase supplies, and maintain accurate paperwork.
• Organise daily and weekly group activities such as games, exercises, and seasonal events (e.g., Christmas and Easter parties).
• Arrange external outings, verify staffing levels, conduct risk assessments, and coordinate transport.
• Develop individual activity preference profiles for each resident and update care plans accordingly.
• Maintain confidentiality, report incidents, and attend resident, relative, and staff meetings.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, codes of practice, and data protection regulations.

Required profile

• Certificate in Activity Organising preferred.
• Understanding and empathy for the needs of service users.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
