Social Worker Consultant for Sentence Reduction Commission (3 positions)

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking three national consultants to work as Social Workers supporting Lebanon’s Commission of Reduction of Sentences. The consultants will assess the psycho‑social condition of inmates to inform decisions on sentence reduction, helping to alleviate prison overcrowding.

Key responsibilities

• Review prisoner files and conduct psycho‑social assessments in assigned governorates.
• Prepare and submit scientific reports and opinions to the Commission for each case.
• Participate in Commission meetings and attend prison visits as required.
• Coordinate with judges, medical doctors, and prison officials to ensure comprehensive case evaluation.

Required profile

• Licensed social worker with experience in correctional or forensic settings.
• Familiarity with Lebanese legal framework on sentence reduction (Law No. 463/2002).
• Ability to work independently on a home‑based schedule while meeting occasional onsite obligations.
• Strong written communication skills in English and Arabic.
