Psychologist – Child Protection (MOSA Juvenile Division)

About the role

This position provides safe, ethical, child‑centred and trauma‑informed psychological support within the Ministry of Social Affairs (MOSA) Juvenile Protection Division. The psychologist will be seconded to MOSA, working closely with juvenile protection staff to deliver immediate psychosocial assistance to children and their caregivers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA) and basic helping skills to children and caregivers.
• Integrate psychological support into child protection case management, including psychosocial assessments, emotional stabilization, supportive counselling and structured referrals.
• Provide technical guidance, capacity‑building and coordination to MOSA child protection and social workers, ensuring alignment with National Child Protection SOPs.
• Conduct specialised psychosocial assessments for case planning and service provision.
• Prepare and submit psychological assessment reports and briefings to juvenile judges as required.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions while respecting confidentiality and informed consent.
• Support the development of holistic care and action plans that incorporate psychosocial considerations.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in Psychology or a related field.
• Experience providing child‑centred, trauma‑informed psychological support, preferably in humanitarian or child protection contexts.
• Understanding of psychosocial, emotional, behavioural and mental health dimensions affecting children, adolescents and caregivers.
• Familiarity with child safeguarding standards (Level 2 contact with children).
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to major humanitarian emergencies.
